the police are stalkers with a wolf pack mentality who are driven by fear. its fine if they are pursueing a voilent predater who can be taken down, but when they have weakened one to just to be promoted there is reason for concern. we the public need to have a say.

I watched this all the way through with an open mind. I respectfully disagree. As an attorney, first as an ASA and now a defense, you should never wait to call the police. Even as a defense attorney I still acknowledge that in many cases, especially domestic situations, people need police, because otherwise they will never get help. I disagree with a handful of old timer police officers, but the modern ones are constantly monitored as they should be, and they are phenomenally better.

Richard Nixon's Mother was Quaker. She told him God said he would be president. When he helped Golda Meijer, she'd called at 3am said they were under attack & if he didnt help she was fearful theyd be exterminated. Within hours troops ammo was on the way. It was 1967. Nixon mother told him after that, that was the reason he was made prez, to help the jews! And so it was. He said his mother quaked when she prayed...

War is an industry. When that is acknowledged it might be possible to dismantle the war machine, but I doubt it, too much profit to be made. This is no different than the industrialization of medicine or religion.

I love the message very much, but the pacifist exist because people are willing to give their lives in defense of them. If it were not for the soldier giving his life Hilter and others would cleansed this world of good people. To give your life in defense of another is the highest virtue. To protect others freedom is the highest honor. Many in my family and friends have done so with many folded flags on our mantles. Thank a service member for you even being able to give such a lovely message. I pray for peace and freedom everyday. God Bless you.

How can I find out about German quakers? I can't seem to find anything past famiky bible. I contacted swathmore and I'm more confused. I couldn't figure out how to use the archives. I got some books and the ones I'm looking for is not there. Shouldn't there be a removal for the confirmed quaker when she married if he wasn't? He might have been lutheran.

After some years I went back to a Catholic mass. Oh no, people were shaking hands. Even my asocial neighbor. No not for me, even before the pandemic I did not like that.

There is so much wrong with this video that I'm not sure where to begin. Yes, as Friends we should try to exercise discernment in all things, decisions about whether to call the police or not in potentially dangerous situations among them. Which is why I find it ironic and troubling that this this Quaker is asking us to recite canned phrases and follow rote steps rather than relying on our best overall judgement (in many cases time is of the essence, and while we're Asking and Assessing and Assembling and Alerting and Ackowledging, people could be dying.) Furthermore, Friends do not generally believe in taking oaths, yet that is exactly what we're being asked to do here in "signing the pledge." Moreover, the clear racialist and identitarian bias of the video is never acknowledged, much less questioned or critiqued. Should we really be evaluating every situation based on the "identities" (ascertained how, and as defined by whom?) of those involved, or should we do our best to see everyone first and foremost as human beings, with that of god in everyone? Why were the chosen images those of police at protests (for causes which are no doubt 100% righteous and correct, and which are being conducted entirely peacefully and legally), rather than of police apprehending dangerous and violent criminals? Are "our communities devolving into war zones" primarily because of policing, or despite the efforts of police to maintain order, break up gangs, remove the most dangerous individuals from the streets, and protect innocent lives? The potential drawbacks of police involvement are implied or stated everywhere in this video; the acknowledgement that the vast majority of violence against probably the most vulnerable segment of society- black people in underprivileged neighborhoods- is committed not by police, but by people in their own communities is missing entirely. Could and should policing be in many ways and places improved? No doubt. Should there also be more, not less, police presence, especially in the most dangerous areas? I think the answer is likely also yes.

Some Quakers do take a formal, communal, physical communion. It's not either/or.

I'm not interested in a church if they dont teach the Full Gospel, I heard nothing from him about the "REAL" reason Jesus came. "HIS" compassion on the cross to save all us sinners that are welcome in the churches.

I attend a Quaker meeting. Some of the people at my meeting are atheists. Some are very traditional Quaker. Some also attend services at local Baptist churches or at an Assembly of God Church. Some simply don't discuss their beliefs so I have no way of knowing what they hold to. When someone new comes into the meeting, we don't gatekeep. We don't tell them they have to Believe any one thing. The meeting keeps a library which has a lot of info about Quaker history (and other things) that anyone can borrow from. If someone wanted to understand quakerism they would have that resource. There are also occasional worship groups or classes that form, and anyone could speak up in meeting to ask for guidance. But nothing is ever forced upon anyone. I think this method works well. The people who come to meeting, regardless of their beliefs, all seem to have a similar mindset. The testimonies given during meetings are usually very much of a similar type, and come from whomever wishes to speak, nobody is discouraged. ...(There are stories of people who were too far out of line and had to be spoken to, but it hasn't happened in the time I've been here)... It does work. These are good people. People who listen to that of God within them. Even if they don't call it that.
